Community Project
We are currently applying for funding to purchase our Forest school field. We have access to 6 beautiful acres of land which has some wooded areas that we use for forest school. It's actually very difficult to find land on the levels like our that has a good number of trees!
At present we run successful holiday clubs and monthly Saturday clubs but there is a much bigger vision to support children, teens and families from our local area.
Ever since starting Glastonbury forest school, parents of children under the age of 5 years old have been asking us to take them on for an early years forest school. This is very possible however, there are certain facilities we would need to put in place to ensure we could do this and purchasing the land is our first priority.
Family camp outs have been something that has been blowing in the wind also over the last few years and we have managed a few raising funds for the RSPB but it would be great to provide this opportunity more regularly during the summer to support families in the local community to have time together and off technology.
Children with additional needs benefit hugely by being able to access forest school as much as their peers. This is an area we would also like to focus upon. We would also like to support local schools by inviting them to bring their students down to enjoy the outside space we have.
Teens suffering anxiety, depression and other mental health issues benefit from the outdoors, we would like to offer 1:1 therapeutic sessions and small group sessions in the future to boost confidence and self esteem and aid the road to recovery.
We do need help to achieve this however. If you have any interest or additional ideas about how we can raise funds please send us a message at [email protected]
