The weather was amazing last Saturday Club and everybody had a fantastic time! The Den building skills were fantastic!... Knot tying and Lopper use as well! Some excellent team work with a broad age range of children. Well done everybody you were fab! On Saturday we had our first Saturday Club in our new location! It was brilliant fun: we learnt about the country code and how to stay safe in the forest school area. We used pop up shelters to stay out of the sun and to eat our lunch. We did some team work where we made a wigwam from items that were collected on the walk up to the forest school base, we learnt how to tie knots , we played some games and climbed a tree. Some of the children even bottle fed a baby goat! A great time was had by all and we are looking forward to using tools this coming Saturday!
Well it's been a tricky summer with land issues and the weather, but we are all on track for ensuring that Forest school, Outdoor learning can be an 'all year round' experience.
We have the opportunity to graze some alpacas and sheep.... coming soon. We have opened an area of willow coppice, which is beautiful and provides plenty of opportunity for climbing, shelter building, use of wood and so on. We have the yurt arriving soon with a wood burner to ensure there is a dry and warm retreat during the wetter and colder months. This is potentially one of the most exciting seasons on the Somerset levels, with the mist rolling and creeping across the panoramic, changes in wildlife and fauna, and of course the way the autumnal sun hits the landscape. There is plenty to do and to learn during this magical time of year. check out the weather report:
